DIAPER BANK OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA
Launches 7th Annual ADULT Diaper Drive

~ Collection extends to Nogales, Sierra Vista & Safford ~

TUCSON, AZ-- The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona (the nation’s first diaper bank) partners with Walgreens to announce its 7th Annual ADULT Diaper Drive. The drive is from Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 10, 2009) to Father’s Day (Sunday, June 21, 2009).

The goal is to collect 100,000 adult incontinence products for Southern Arizona. The Diaper Bank notes that 20% of its requests are for adult supplies. Current statistics indicate there are 17 million Americans who are incontinent.

“For an elderly person, having one package of diapers makes all the difference between being home-bound or maintaining an active and independent life,” says Diaper Bank’s Executive Director, Kirsten Grabo.

The drive reaches beyond Tucson and extends to Green Valley, Nogales, Safford, Sahuarita, Sierra Vista, Vail and Yuma.  ALL Walgreens stores (56 total) will serve as drop off locations.  In addition, if a donor purchases Walgreens own brand of adult brief, the store will offer a 50% discount on a second package.

Child and Family Resources will collect and distribute the diapers in Nogales, Safford, Sierra Vista, and Yuma.

The Diaper Bank’s Board Members include Lynda Hanna (Secretary), Dianne Janis, Don Livingstone, Jennifer Lohse (Vice President), Carolyn Monjoi, Adriana Prieto, Sharon Roffman, and Punch Woods (Treasurer). Michael Serres serves as the Diaper Bank’s Board President and Kirsten Grabo is the organization’s Executive Director.

The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona was founded in 1994 to work with community partners to provide diapers to children and adults. The organization’s slogan, “Dignity through Diapers,” emphasizes the importance of providing a human touch to those in need. More information is available at:  www.diaperbank.org
