Diaper Bank Leadership

Kirsten Grabo
Executive Director

Kirsten Cloutier Grabo was appointed Executive Director of the Southern Arizona Community Diaper Bank in October of 2007. As one of the original team members of the Southern Arizona Diaper Bank in 1994, Ms. Grabo is passionate about the Diaper Bank’s mission and vision – to create a community where everyone’s basic needs are met.

Ms. Grabo is responsible for development and execution of the Diaper Bank’s programs – providing diapers and incontinence supplies to southern Arizona families in need through a network of 55 community agencies, and raising awareness of the issues that put people into poverty and crisis in the first place.

Prior to joining the Diaper Bank, Ms. Grabo served as Controller for Tucson-based Catalina Tool and Mold, overseeing the finance and administration departments of the company as a member of the senior leadership team. Ms. Grabo was instrumental in the strategic expansion of the company.

Grabo’s community service includes her advocacy for the development of young women in Tucson through the Miss Tucson Valley and Miss Arizona Scholarship pageants. She works with teenage youth as a coach of the baton twirling teams of several local high schools and is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She has been a volunteer for several local charities including the Alzheimer’s Association of Southern Arizona and the Girl Scouts of America. She has also been treasurer of the Southern Arizona Technology Council. Kirsten is an alumni of the Pride of Arizona, The University of Arizona Marching Band and the 1989 Up With People Cast.

Kirsten, a native of Duluth, Minnesota, holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arizona and an MBA from University of Phoenix. Kirsten and husband John have one child, Brayden.

Rachele Peterson, Vice President

Rachele has lived in many places including Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Ohio - but Tucson is her favorite city because of the natural beauty and weather. Her extensive involvement in public and community service includes volunteer time with MEDWorld, Unite for Sight, Stephen Ministry, Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital, and Tu Nidito locally.

She has a degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Public Policy. She has always worked for non-profits with her main focus being public health and clinical research.  She presently works at the University of Arizona Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry as Research Administrator. Rachele’s husband, Joe, is an aerospace engineer at Raytheon. Together, they have three children (2 furry and 1 human).

Lise Hicks, Secretary

Lise Hicks is a recent transplant to Southern Arizona. She has held a variety of sales management positions in her twenty-five year insurance career, most recently retiring from MassMutual Life Insurance Company. While there, she ran the sales division for life, disability income and long term care insurance, managing 165 employees across the country. Living her work life "on the road", there was very little time for public service and she intends to correct that deficit now.

She earned an MBA the hard way (four years part time) from Santa Clara University in 1986, before those degrees became fashionable.

Lise loves yoga, reading and writing. She is married to a retired railroader and has one son, currently employed in aerospace marketing. Her cat, Jack, is a rescue cat from the Bronx.

Michelle Murphy, Treasurer

Michelle Murphy received a Masters in Finance from the University of Arizona in 2003. She is a native Tucsonan and employed by Wells Fargo Bank. Michelle volunteers for several community organizations including the Junior League of Tucson and the Ken Olson Foundation. Michelle enjoys spending time with her two dogs Belle and Scruffles.

As an advocate of the election process, she’s also contributed to countless hours of voter outreach and grassroots campaigning.

Anne Zimmerman

Anne likes to joke that she’s a “recovering” attorney.  After a dozen years of practicing law in Arizona and California, she started a second career in the non-profit world in 2007.  Anne is the Chief Development Officer for Primavera Foundation.  Prior to that, she raised funds as a volunteer for an NGO in Rwanda that she became involved with while traveling there.  She knows that a goat will change your life… and believes the same about diapers!  Anne was previously on the Board of Directors for Southern Arizona Legal Aid for six years. She is married to Richard Zimmerman.
