THE NEED IS GREATThe Southern Arizona Community Diaper Bank receives far more requests for diapers from our partner agencies each year than we can fulfill. We provide approximately 500,000 diapers on average each year to individuals in need via our partner agencies.
Getting and distributing a half-million diapers sounds like an enormous undertaking, but unfortunately, the need is much greater – with an estimate of 2 million diapers needed annually in our Tucson and Southern Arizona community!
We also receive many requests from additional agencies wishing to join with the Diaper Bank as a partner to distribute diapers and adult incontinence products, but we can’t even fulfill the needs of our existing agencies, much less take on new partners at this time.
THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE “GIVING SEASON” BOXLike many non-profit organizations, the Diaper Bank experiences peak periods of donations and charitable giving. However, those we serve need diapers year-round. In that light, the Diaper Bank hopes (with your help) to establish a series of diaper drives scheduled throughout the year. These sustainer drives will provide a more stable monthly source of diapers for distribution, and – through the commitment of individuals, organizations and businesses – create a foundation for giving on which to build to meet community needs.
Join with others to select an annual diaper drive in your business, organization or yearly event. The commitment can be during any month of the year. Our goal is to have multiple diaper (or monetary donation) drives each month, creating a steady stream of resources to help those in crisis or in poverty.
YOUR COMMITMENT IMPACTS LIVES IN THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL WAYYour commitment to hold an annual diaper drive will help ensure that a child doesn’t spend the entire day in the same diaper (and suffer abuse for crying in such a miserable situation); a single parent can leave their child in daycare so they can work or get an education; or and elderly person on a fixed income doesn’t become a shut-in who’s too embarrassed to leave their home due to issues of incontinence.
THE DIAPER BANK WILL HELP!We’re willing to assist you with ideas, support materials, diaper pickups, or whatever is needed to make your drive a success.
It’s a great feeling to help those less fortunate – right here in our own community! Contact our executive director Kirsten Grabo at the Diaper Bank at (520) 325-1400 (or
