Crowds swarm the vendors and pack the room

It was non-stop crowds and action at Saturday’s 25th Annual Baby Fair.

If the size of the crowd and level of enthusiasm is a measure of how well something went, then the 25th Annual Baby Fair, presented by Tucson Medical Center and sponsored by 94.9 MIXfm & KGUN9, was a unqualified success. People were patiently waiting in the lobby of the Marriott University Park hotel Saturday morning for the 9 a.m. official opening and the crowd barely thinned throughout the day.

The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona’s  Daddy Diaper Olympics drew a  large group of enthusiastic dads and even a granddad or two who were hoping for the chance to show off their diapering skills. MIXfm’s Bobby Rich and his able partner KGUN9’s  Stella Inger seamlessly got the contest under way  and got the crowd into the mood. The three able-bodied dads Paul Talarico, Sean Litsky and Mike Vassar took the stage and with a fierce focus grabbed their babies and the games began.

Daddy Diaper Olympic winner Sean Litsky, showed off his tool box prize pack that included Diamondback tickets, a Target gift certificate and a little bat and hat.

While he may not have been the fastest diaper changer, Sean Litsky took the lead right off when he was able to toss the “dirty diaper” into the pail in one try.

His competitors found the effort of getting those wadded up nappies across the stage into the little bucket a bit more challenging. Litsky was one proud daddy after when the competition. He wore his golden pacifier around his neck for the rest of the day for everybody to see.

The Diaper Bank’s mission interested many who stopped by to talk about how they might help and of course to enter the raffle for our kids craft basket. Diaper Driver flyers flew off the table and had to be replenished as did the agency’s brochures. Overall the Diaper Bank made a whole lot of new acquaintances and hopefully gained some new friends.

Thanks again to MIXfm and KGUN for including us in their 25th Annual Baby Fair.
