Furniture Giant Gives Back to Community

When the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona was faced with trying to find storage for a massive shipment of diapers last December, the leadership at Sam Levitz Furniture stepped in and provided space, for FREE! Not only did CEO Eric Creson arrange space in the company’s 36th St. warehouse, he agreed to accept and store the next shipment from the National Diaper Bank Network and Huggies this spring, which could be upwards of 1 million diapers.

“When we have received shipments, or transferred inventory to our own space, the Sam Levitz staff has been courteous and incredibly generous with their equipment, expertise, and assistance,” said Leslie Pike, Diaper Bank Warehouse Manager.

It is this kind of generosity that keeps the Diaper Bank alive and able to meet the needs of the community.

Eric Creson, CEO Sam Levitz, came to the Diaper Bank's rescue last December by providing storage space for free.

Sam Levitz Furniture has been a part of the Tucson landscape for 62 years. In 1953 Sam Levitz opened his first store in town. Levitz is considered the pioneer in the warehouse furniture business.

In 1974, the 100,000-square-foot warehouse opened in Tucson and is still providing customers a chance to pick from a sea of choices.  Continuing its growth, a northwest showroom, at Orange Grove and Thornydale, was opened in 1996 and in 2001 it was remodeled into today’s mega-store.

Sam Levitz has five locations in Tucson and Pima County, including Sam Levitz Furniture Northwest, Sam Levitz Furniture 36th St., Sam Levitz Furniture East, Sam’s Furniture Outlet and Ashley Furniture HomeStore – Sahuarita.
