With a lot of help from its friends the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona was able to take possession of the second installment of a two year grant that will ultimately provide 2 million diapers for distribution to the community. On Thursday morning  October 3, 2013  two semis packed with more than 300,000 diapers pulled into town and offloaded at the Tucson Medical Center and The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.  The Diaper Bank had only a three-day notice that shipment was on its way from Kansas. Answering the call for assistance, TMC and Food Bank stepped up with warehouse space, equipment and volunteers, in addition private citizens and volunteers from Pima Federal Credit Union stepped up to make sure the 30,000-pound, 77 pallets shipment was tucked safely away in its temporary home.
